Good to know
Trolase is a UV-resistant, laser-engraved acrylic-based laminate that can be used both indoors and outdoors. The material consists of an acrylic base with a thin layer of laminate on top. This thin top layer enables attractive, high-contrast engraving, making the material ideal for signage.
Trolase is a good alternative to foil-faced letters as the laminate on top cannot be scraped off.
As standard, TroLase sheets do NOT have a protective film on both sides. The protective film helps to prevent burn marks and can be selected under ‘Workzone’ when you upload your file. Foil is not an option when using flat engraving.
Line and flat engraving
Flat engraving of TroLase removes the surface material, allowing the background material to show through clearly. In this case, flat engraving will remove the black colour and the white background colour will stand out clearly. TroLase is therefore well suited for applications such as signage and QR codes.
Laser cutting
Top – Minimal burn marks. A protective film can be selected, and the cut will appear clean and sharp. For flat engraving, the film is removed before cutting. Close to the cut edge, there will be a matt deposit of smoke from the cutting process.
Edges – A protective film can be selected, and the edge will appear clean and sharp.
Base – A protective film can be selected, and the cut will appear clean and sharp.
Trolase can be cleaned with soap and water.
Contact adhesive or epoxy can be used if, for example, the material is to be joined to the same or a different material.
